Gaudi the greatest figure of Catalan architecture, is known in the whole world.
Born on June 25 from 1852, it studied its Baccalaureat with the coles Pies of Reus, moving afterwards in Barcelona where it studied at the Average Educational establishment and the Faculty of Science.
In 1873 it enters to the Provincial School of Architecture of Barcelona, where it obtained its Title of Architect the year 1878.
Its professional life proceeded in Barcelona, city in which one can see the fundamental part of his work.
The social condition that it lived, one time of strong economic and urban development of the city, the patronage of a powerful middle class eager to approach with the European tendencies the time, coincidence with the phenomenon of the “Renaixença”, were used as a basis for imagination and wild imagination of Gaudi.
Influenced by Purple the Duke and Ruskin, it appeared like one of the fundamental pillars of the Art nouveau, style in which one classifies it, although his esthetics is, like that of certain great geniuses, with difficulty classifiable, the opinions which classify it in other artistic currents are frequent.
The biography of Gaudi is very dependent with the family Güell, a family of great prestige in the industrial and artistic entourages of the time in Barcelona. For this family it built a great part of its work, like the Güell Palate, the Crypt of Colonia Güell and Park Güell.
In addition to one broad representation of residential and urban buildings, the architectural work of Gaudi proceeded in the religious aspect in which one can classify some of his most important work like Sagrada Familia from Barcelona, the Crypt of Colonia Güell de Santa Coloma de Cervelle already mentioned and the School of Santa Teresa de Ganduxer also in Barcelona.
Its vision of architecture like a whole, makes that its print appears not only with the frontages and the parts external of its buildings, but also in the interiors which indicate an intesive work that it developed with the collaboration of many artists and craftsmen.
After years of lapse of memory and criticism broken by the “Noucentisme”, aujourd´hui, the prestige of Gaudi is a fact recognized in the whole world, as well by the specialists by the public in general.
