At least that’s what Google says. Many countries don’t distinguish between a town and a city, Poland is one of them so it may be the case with Sweden too. Maybe Gert can shed some light on the subject. |

(17676) [2021-01-01 13:18:37] | I am always a bit self-conscious when photographing private buildings, be it people’s homes or shops, and especially so in affluent countries. It often makes the inhabitants feel uneasy and raises suspicion of being somehow spied on and singled out.
This photo was taken in Ljusdal, a lovely “locality” where I got lost and stumbled upon this shop and spent a lot of time in front of this warmly-lit window, with a tripod (yes!), taking long exposure (indeed!), trying one after another not-yet-completely-perfect compositions. The lady who must have been the owner spotted me but tolerated me for the first few minutes. She eventually did come out to take a look at the strangers photographing her property. Unfazed (well, almost), I decided to use the explanation that once helped me through in similar circumstances in Northern Pakistan (ok, maybe slightly more serious as in being caught at night in the backyard of a local, most probably gun-owning, villager) and exclaimed “I’m a tourist!”
It worked wonders again. The lady smiled, nodded her head with approval and went back in. |
