Thanks for the compliments and yes absolutely i agree with you that the image should have been more sharp. However the lighting conditions were poor so even with a f/1.8 50 mm lens i could not manage to get a proper shot.

I will surely look into these details next time.

yes, the light feels quite dim, but I see that you have also left ISO at 100. why not go up to 200, may be try a shot at 400? it would let you go faster than 1/25 sec exposure. also, how did you focus? manually or using autofocus? if the latter, the camera sometimes has difficulties focusing properly when the scene lacks bright light. finally, you can always work a little with "unsharp mask" in photoshop, but nothing will help if the image is not in perfect focus to begin with.

Yes you are right as i did use auto focussing at that time. On the have bought this camera very recently and before this i used to shot with a film camera Nikon F75 where the ISO setting was not available and now i really need to keep in mind that i am shooting with a digital camera which allows these alterations as and when necessary. Regarding using "unsharp mask" please let me know whether it is available in photoshop CS4? It would be of great help if you can kindly let me know how to use it.

I use CS3, where "unsharp mask" is under "filters"->"sharpen", shouldn't be very different from CS4. try various settings for radius etc wo see which combination works best for your images.
