Hello Bev,
Looking in this direction we see what seems to be a fairly ordinary Gothic church, the most fascinating part of its history being behind your back.
The photos and explanations found in the exhibitions would have been very interesting. You mention how some people had suffered from bone diseases, but possibly even more common in older days were tooth aches that must have made life unbearable. Many skeletons found in Swedish graves, including those of kings and queens, have shown extremely bad teeth.
You mention here that the church was declared redundant. In an earlier note you said that it was consecrated, which sounds a bit contradictory. So what is its status? There have to be two services a year. But for what reason? Will it be deconsecrated otherwise? And what would that mean?
Sorry for being so inquisitive.;-)
Best regards,

Default To holmertz: St. Peter's

Thank you for your critique and thoughtful question, Gert.

I wish I could answer it absolutely.
I asked questions of the curators and must have been easily satisfied with the response.

I asked if religious services were still held in the church.
The response was, because the church is consecrated, they are obliged to have two services per year, but these can be conducted outside the church, if desired.

Consecrated means the building is sacred, so the building is still sacred.

Try as I might, I cannot find anything regarding St Peter's being open for a service. The Internet just offers opening times via English Heritage.

Sorry, this will still leave you curious, and me!
Bev :-)
