Photographer's Note

This is a lilac-breasted roller (Coracias caudatus),
a stout bird widely distributed in sub-Saharan regions.
It's often seen perched on a tree limb in search of
prey which includes insects and small lizards. It's arguably one of the most beautiful birds in Africa.

That is a very beautiful bird, and at the same time a fearsome looking one, that break could do damage! Superb clear and sharp up close shot.
