Photographer's Note

Tjuyu (Tuyu) was the grandmother of Akhenaton, and the great grandmother of Tutankhamen. She was also the mother of Queen Tiye. This is a profiled shot of her funerary mask. Shot through glass. In the bg is an out of focus gilded funerary mask of Yuya, her husband.

Hello Chris,
I suppose this was taken at the Egyptian Museum? I remember it as fairly disorganized but the collections were possibly the most superb I have ever seen. This is a fine double "portrait", very sharp in spite of the glass and no problems of reflections.

Hello Chris,

There is no doubt that this close up works extremely well, filling the f/g with exciting details of the funerary mask. We get a fine impression ot he colours and the textures.
The oof mask beyond, is important for a sense of depth.

I had the pleasure to visit the museum in Cairo as well but I don't remember whether I was actually taking photos inside. This is a great capture, nice play with the shallow depth of the field. The close one is so crispy sharp. I am equally impressed that you remember that much about what we see in the photos. My memory fades away quite fast.

Hello Chris, Beautiful presentation of this golden funerary mask. I haven't known that the Egyptian Museum moved into another place. I was in Egypt in 1995. I would love to see these marvels again, but most probably it will not happen. Best regards MAlgo

a nice close up of the golden face of the mummy with the other ahead. looks like there is digital prints in the gold.I visited a huge egyptian museum in turin, it was amazing.
