Photographer's Note
In the bottom centre is part of the underground Al Shohadaa Metro exit for the El Fath Mosque at right. Taken from the rooftop of my hotel near Rameses train station whilst the overzealous security guard who told me 'no photos' wasn't looking. Locals were taking photos with their cell phones so I followed suit!

Hello Chris,
Wow, this is an interesting view of Cairo, one which I have never seen before!
The space, in the f/g, makes a fine composition, with the city radiating out from this part!
There is lots of artificial lighting in the f/g, warm coloured. As it moves outwards, it turns to bluey/white light, almost like a direction guide!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Chris,
It would have been more fun to be down there among all the people, but the rooftop offered a great photo opportunity. The green and yellow lights and the crowds of people create an exciting ambience. I wonder if the security guard knew himself why no photos were allowed.
Regards,
Gert

Hi Chris, this isn't a common pic from Egypt, excellent way to take this opportunity offered by the window of your hotel, impressive capture very sharp and bright despite the distance and the difficult light! Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Bonjour Chris,
L'étendue de la place donne de la profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir l'action sur la place et les détails des immeubles. La lumière environnante a un bel effet sur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris, I like the lines of street lights emanating from the main square; they lead our eyes out towards the horizon.
There is lots of activity below you, pedestrians and traffic.
I am glad that you managed to get a shot.
A very interesting scene.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Chris,
Fantastic bird's eye perspective of the large square with lots of people and cars seen in the foreground. The buildings are very nicely illuminated and their golden tones make a great contrast with the deep blue areas.

Hello Chris,
For a moment I thought it was Tahrir Square. But it is just as big.
I wonder why it wasn't allowed to take this kind of picture ...
Quite a few pedestrians down in the square.
Just taken within the blue hour.
The photo gives a good idea of the enormous size of the Egyptian capital.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Chris,
indeed these people who prohibit photography are quite annoying. Most of the time is is a way to show that they have some power over you because rarely there is a sense in it.
Fantastic view from the hotel. Very busy square. There is so much going on. One could spend ages trying to figure out all fragments of it.
Very well done,
M

chris
looks there are so many people there at night.
I remember once in a colombian town (medellin I guess) there was so many crowds in the city late at night and with no reason and I became surprised, big brazilian cities became empty during the night.
nice golden effects of the light. it would be nice to walk free by this city, but I guess I would be afraid to do that alone.
take care
jorge
