Photographer's Note
A detailed close up shot of a wooden coffin in the old Cairo Museum, now relocated to Giza. I liked the repetition of the intricate wood notches in the outer coffin of Queen Ahmose Meritamun. The exhibit was retrieved from her tomb (TT358) at Deir el-Bahari. She was the sister and wife of Pharoah Amenhotep I. (New Kingdom, 18th dynasty, 1550-1292 BC). It was common back then for pharaohs to marry their sisters and halfsisters. Also common were physical abnormalities like club foot and cleft palate. People didn't know about inbreeding back then. Shot through glass.

Hello Chris,
Obviously the museum staff keep the glass clean. This is very sharp and clear and what we see of the sarcophagus is stunningly beautiful. I wonder if the face is completely stylized or if there is any actual likeness of the dead queen.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Chris,
When I looked at them I was exactly asking myself this question: was it behind the glass or not because you cannot actually see it. It feels so clear and sharp! But of course you answered the question already. I suppose you had to carefully select the angle to avoid the reflections.
Very well done,
M

Hello Chris,
A great close-up photo of this ancient sarcophagus. The details and textures of the wood and the wood carvings are very clear here and I really like the warm colours. Well done.

Bonjour Chris,
Le cadrage serré met le sarcophage en évidence. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails du sarcophage. La lumière donne un bon rendu aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris, Excellent shot of this wooden sarcophagus of the queen. She looks like alive.
I was in Cairo Museum many years ago, I haven't been to Luxor Museum, but I have seen wonderful objects recently in British Museum, with Rosetta Stone as the most important exhibit.
Best regards MAlgo

Hello Chris.
Stupendous close-up of the sarcophagus of this queen, a beautiful work in the carving of the wood with good execution also of the painting, well captured without any reflection of the glass.
Both the color and the luminosity of the photo are magnificent, highlighting the beauty and sharpness of the composition.
Very well done. I like it
Have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
