Photographer's Note

A young boy in Timbuktu is returning home late in the afternoon with his donkey loaded with firewood he had collected somewhere outside the city.

It's a far from perfect photo, mainly because it was taken in a difficult light and probably not perfectly exposed. Today's WS #1 suffers from the same problem. But in both cases I can assure you these scans are incomparably much better than those I originally made several years ago. But even this time I had to do a lot of post-processing to make them reasonably acceptable for TE. I show them despite their deficiencies, because I like them.

I already posted a number of photos from Timbuktu years ago. In my present West African series I show pictures I had either just overlooked earlier, or photos that were originally so badly scanned that I couldn't possibly show them.

WS #1, which is another not perfect personal favourite, shows more animals. WS #2 shows an ordinary Timbuktu street and a couple of chickens.

All photos were scanned from Kodachrome slides. So was this one, which I posted here many years ago, and which was clearly also taken on an afternoon:
