Photographer's Note
Coming from Marrakech, having passed the majestic Atlas Mountains with its snowy tops and travelling more to southeast, you reach Ait Benhaddou after 5 hours of bus drive. Ksar Ait Benhaddou is at the borders of arid lands, further ahead the desert starts. It is located at the ramparts of a not so high hill, the top crowned with a granary, where this photo was taken. Earthen houses, typical of traditional Berber architecture, create an incredibly authentic view for the naive visitors' eyes. The place, after becoming a natural decor for some famous historical movies, became a UNESCO Heritage site. Now, only 10 families live in the town, all of them earning money from tourism and spending most of it for restoration purposes. No electricity and motorized transportation. I stayed one night in one of the houses seen here. Candle was the only lighting. On the top right diagonal, you see the river which you have to cross on foot when you arrive there.

Hi Deniz
Amazing place and interesting note, thank you for sharing.
As for the image itself, I like the POV, colours and contrast. Human figure in the top right corner adds a sense of scale.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hi Deniz,
What a unique set of buildings, made of stone, or? Looks like mud. Great perspective. From a hill?
Thanks,
Goran
