Vieux site portuaire, Essaouira, est l'ancienne Mogador des Portugais puis des Français
En 1764, le sultan Mohammed ben Abdellah décide d'installer à Essaouira sa base navale, d'où les corsaires iront punir les habitants d'Agadir en révolte contre son autorité.
Théodore Cornut l'Avignonnais, disciple de Vauban, fut chargé de construire le port et la Kasbah
Avec son plan très régulier, la ville mérite bien son nom actuel d'Es Saouira, qui signifie « la Bien-Dessinée » 
La ville est liée par une opération de coopération avec Saint-Malo, sous l'égide de l'UNESCO. Elle est aussi jumelée avec La Rochelle.

Bonjour Patrick,

An interesting note and a fabulous photograph with which to illustrate it!

The concrete harbour wall leads the eye perfectly into the frame toward the interesting builings in the distance and the charcter dressed in bright blue is a wonderful inclusion. A very fine composition with lovely light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

Les mouettes, l'homme à la djellaba verte et la forteresse, autant d'éléments intéressants dans cette bonne composition mais, personnellement, ce grand mur blanc me dérange un peu, attirant irrésistiblement mon regard.

Hello Patrick,
This is an excellent composition with the gull lined seawall leading our eye towards the walled/fortified city in the background. The man in the turquoise robes provides completes the image.

J'ajoute à vos explications 'La Bien Captée' par la caméra car cette perspective extrême du muret attire inévitablement l'attention en ville.
La djellaba et le ciel font bon ménage pour un bel équilibre de couleur.

Une bonne composition avec la ligne du mur blanche qui mène vers la vielle ville de Essaouira. Mais pour moi c'est surtout l'homme dans sa djellaba qui fait le charme de cette photo. Il donne un bonne tache de couleurs sur cette scène blanche.

that is very well spotted moment and well delivered scene. The birds sitting on the wall are very nice, eye catching detail and the man's turquoise robe add vivid and contrasting color to the picture. The town in the background finishes off the image providing interesting background.
Very good light, colors and sharpness.

A cracking composition about the old fortress seaside town, with good processing it does look real cool and what matching colours you spotted there. He serves as strong focal & an obvious magnet to this scene with lots of fine interest around. This pov is great with brilliant colors lifting this cheery image. where did he get that turquoise robe? It steals the show:) Didn't see anyone wearing this color in Essaouira. Blue, white and turquoise - a pleasure for my eyes. Excellent compo.

Un petit côté Saint-Malo en effet. Et pas que pour les mouettes ! Point de vue bien choisi avec ce muret qui guide le regard vers la ville fortifiée. Horizon un peu trop centré à mon goût.

always enjoy viewing your photos from Morocco, they often inspire me to visit!

anytime you can have a coastal view, rustic architecture, and some locals, its easy be attracted to it, like a magnet.

makes me want to see more of the bg subject too.
