Photographer's Note
Rooiels forms part of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, the first and only Biosphere in South Africa to be proclaimed by UNESCO. It includes the whole Hangklip-Kleinmond area. It is often referred to as being the 'heart of the fynbos kingdom'. It is home to 1 600 different species.
The natural beauty of Rooiels leaves an imprint in the hearts of many people who visit here. This small seaside village is a safe and attractive spot for a family day on the beach or just stopping over at the Drummond Arms Hotel & Pub for light refreshment.
The R44 then swings inland to Pringle Bay, the next seaside village to discover about 5 kilometers from Rooiels. Pringle Bay is much like Rooiels, except in recent years it has developed more rapidly. Pringle Bay has a lovely safe beach and various places to enjoy a light lunch.
