Venus moon, a photo from Western Cape, West

Photographer's Note

This photo was taken from the mountains on the west side of Stellenbosch. We were waiting for the appearance of comet McNaught when all of a sudden Venus appeared from behind the moon. The mountain you see way back is the foothills of table mountain.

Hi Gert, awesome. I was taking pictures a day after you did and the Venus was already so far away form the moon. Astronimically speaking that is an eclipse and I wasn't aware of this phenomenon to occur. Well, glad that tou documented it and I can whatch it now at TE.

Fantastic shot Gert.
Last Saturday I was with my girlfriend waiting for the appearance of the comet too and I saw Venus near the Moon like you. I took some pictures of Venus but the position wasn't so close to the Moon.. I think because of our relative positions on the Earth ...

Hi Gert.

That shot is really nice. It lets me think of James Cook. When he discovered the seven seas he reported about the venus transition. The light of the whole scene is very good. It submits a calm feeling. The dimensions of the moon and the venus are also very good. All things considered it is a great photo.
