Photographer's Note
Ng'ambo (literally, "The Other Side"; sometimes also referred to as the "New City") is one of the two main parts comprising Zanzibar City, the other being the historical Stone Town. Ng'ambo is much larger and more modern than Stone Town, with office buildings and large apartment blocks, as well as slum areas.
The place is mostly known for the Plattenbauten, which are large apartment blocks that have been built here in the late 1960s and early 1970s with the aid of East Germany, after the Zanzibar Revolution.

Ces appartement n'ont pas très bien vieillis mais ils permettent de réaliser une bonne photo au graphisme intéressant. Le linge aux fenêtres est le petit plus pour l'image.

Hello Wanda
Sufficient visual information here for us to understand what we are looking at, but at the same time, sufficiently graphic and abstracted to be worthy of your title. It seems to sit interestingly between the abstract-art and documentary genres. I like it.

Hello Wanda
You show us here an entirely other side of Zanzibar than the normal touristy sights of the old town, but the harsh reality of daily life for many citizens there.
The repeating forms and patterns have created an artistically interesting combination. Like it a lot.
have a great Sunday

Hello Wanda,
This is a very smart composition which required a trained pair of eyes. There are lots of fine details in this ugly place. I remember this area, so shockingly ugly compared to nearby Stone Town, from my only visit to Zanzibar.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Wanda
its great to see you posting new photos, but i'm sorry, I just HAD to pick this one from your gallery.
It was too much for me to pass up, hope you don't mind.
These types of architecture really draw me in, i couldn't resist.
the grime, the dirt, the rustic condition of the facade, the clothes...it all works so well as a photographic subject.
and to think families are still living here day in and day out is quite remarkable.
excellent cut and crop of the building to create a strong visual impact.
cheers

Bonjour Wanda
J'apprécie le respect des verticales pour le cadrage serré de cette architectecture qui a déjà subi les outrages du temps.
Bonne journée

Hello Wanda,
I like this picture because of 2 elements. On the one hand the stons lines of architecture, on the other hand the message of abject poverty.
Well done.
