C'est une composition très délicate, une fine dentelle en deux temps. L'avant plan est extrèmement bien placé et bien centré. Le dégradé du ciel fait le reste. C'est très joli.

I like the lacey pattern in the foreground which echoes and in a way frames the decorative lamp post in the back. Beatiful detail and I like the colour shining straight through the clear glass.

PS. Have purchased SONY SLT A65, which I hope will prove as a sister camera to the one yours... But I feel I have been risking a bit with the new translucent mirror technology... lets see what picture it takes. Still have to study all the new features it has, I am all confused with them, but it seems that auto HDR will give me sufficient amount of detail in the shade which I love in your pictures. Just have to figure out which of the three levels of HDR it takes is best, the strongest is giving strange halos around trees.
I am looking forward to more your stunning detailed pictures and I hope to get closer to the quality level you achieve.

Hello Brian,

A very simple and yet very effective and striking composition. I love how the lamp standard is in pin-sharp focus with the overhanging frieze is in soft focus. The evening sky which forms the background has the most wonderful gradation of hues from mauve to orange.

Though initially I felt that the slightly blurred patterns in the top BG disturbed the beauty, after looking for quite a while at your picture I revised my views. Without these, the picture would look too barren & too ordinary. Good thinking indeed. The colours of the sky are superbly rendered

My eldest son was born in Brighton too many years ago now!!!
I love this photo not because you took it in Brighton although it helped...you have so many beautiful images to choose from.
What I like is the simplicity of this shot it really makes a statement - the sky is very dreamy & I like the way you have focused on the lamp - excellent colours & chosen POV.
