A new portrait in my gallery, an old man, this is the original picture, no color add, no photo shop surgery.
Taken with a white wall as background.

This picture has been taken during a stroll in Bruges I saw these old man with his bike.
I have asked for take a picture of them, he was immediate accord.
Also I may this portrait places on TE without problems.
This is a wonderful man, yes, 97 year old, what a energy man, he has a shop of interiors, and cover chairs and stairs, carpets and other decoration house interior.
His family coming out of Charleroi a city in Wallonia, Belgium, his father was a miner, in totally eleven children, now life yet eight brothers and sisters of these man, all more than 85 year old, really a very strong family.
I find this very pleasant that these old man with a very good memory speaks with a very good memory about everything exactly or it was yesterday.
Formerly as child was his parents very poor people, few food share with all brothers and sisters.
One hour I have with these man talked.
A lovely afternoon for my wife and me self.

Comme quoi le travail c'est la santé !!! Mais je remarque aussi dans ta note que c'est aussi dans les gènes... En tous les cas un très beau portrait, d'une belle qualité d'image, surtout sans artifices. J'aime beaucoup la jovialité de ce sourire et ce regard. Mooi portret, John. De man straalt levenslust uit en dat is mooi. Goed scherp op de stoppels, het rood rond de ogen is confronterend. Witte achtergrond is prima, enkel een beetje jammer dat dat beetje jas naast zijn kraag er wat minder uitkomt, maar ik hou erg van dit soort foto's. Mooi werk!

Dear John,

This is an incisive portrait of the old gentleman, who does not look a day over 80. He still has an enthusiastic smile and piercing eyes. It is also a very sharp image, where each strand of his whiskers is visible. You might have already tried it, but I wonder whether it would not be more dramatic to invert the white background to a very dark, perhaps a background with a gradient.

Nice white background, nice dark colors at the bottom of the frame, so the face and the hat are very well shown.

Nice shot, nice subject, well cropped and composed by placing the thirds line passing through the eyes. Beautiful portrait, showing a terrific relaxed expression with gentle smile and lovely eye contact. I appreciate this portrait indeed ! I like the fact that you did no post-processing on it . The same as he did no esthetic surgery on himself ! Old people look so beautiful when they have lived a real, authentic life. It's as if their life was written in their features. You captured that very well, and your explanations are very useful. I really admire these people who reach such an old age, still full of life and energy. I believe hard work and enthusiasm of course are some of the secrets.

Hallo John,

Mooie composititie, want de kijkrichting van de man plus zijn houding van zijn hoofd hebben een mooie vrijheid in deze foto, zonder dat er teveel ruimte in is bemoeid.
De belichting ziet er ook verzorgd uit en de egale achtergrond maakt het geheel aangenaam rustig.

Samengevat: een mooie en verzorgde foto.

I would like to thank you for your comment, I am always very grateful.
I chose another portrait, this time of a man of 97 year old. The first impression that I have about this particular portrait, or the first word that comes to my mind is a word Trust. Like always, you must have a great way to speak to people. And perhaps also a great way to share part of you with them too. Look at his eyes, he is totally at ease with you. You are superb photographer without a doubt. And you are a great communicator before being a superb photographer, I imagine. A man of his age must have many great stories to tell. The white background brigs out his slight but satisfying smile, at you. I feel good about looking at this portrait. Your photo even gives me an illusion that I am also with him. This is one of many kinds of photos that I will never be able to take.
I was little down today because my father is in a hospital at the moment. But I feel much better now.
