Basilica of Sant’Elia - Castel Sant’Elia (VT)

The Basilica of Sant'Elia in Castel Sant'Elia rises in the center of the Suppentonia valley, which from the first centuries of the Christian era distinguished itself as an anchorite and then Benedictine center where, according to tradition, there was a temple dedicated to the goddess Diana, built by the emperor Nero and that even before that, in the Etruscan period, there always stood a Delubro dedicated to Pico Marzio.
It is part of a complex known as the Papal Shrine of Santa Maria "ad rupes".

Hi Silvio
There is alot to see and explore visually in this scene.
so many details on the floor alone, not to mention the walls, and the pillars too. hard to photograph with all the shadows and bright light through the windows and dark light as well. it came out very well. cheers

This is a fantastic church. Such beautiful frescos, a very elegantly patterned floor, and the fine "temple within the temple". You managed a perfect exposure of the interior, so it was inevitable that the light seen through the windows is very bright. You did very well to present us an enjoyable photo.

This is such a contrast to the photograph that I have posted!
This is a quite beautiful interior and you have composed the photograph so that we have a clear access to the altar, the tiled floor and the wall art in the concave section.
The details are crisp and the colours subtle.
I am amazed by the floor patterns, so different in style from the paintings.

Hello Silvio, taken from an excellent angle, you have managed to include some lovely features of the Basilica.
The light through the windows was quite bright, but it hasn't marred our enjoyment of this interior at all.
The artwork is very beautiful.
And the floor with its tiles is quite special.

This is a beautiful and interesting interior. The altar looks like a mini temple, and the paintings on the wall are colorful. I also like the patterns on the ground. You handled the difficult lighting very well, too.
