Old cemetery, a photo from Vojvodina, North

Photographer's Note

(Old) Catholic part of the cemetery in Erdevik.

Until the end of World War II in Erdevik there was a large community of Germans. Almost all were moved in Germany as the German army withdrew from the area occupied in 1941 (out of fear of retribution for crimes committed against Serbs, Jews and gypsies). Since then, the cemetery was forgotten, some parts are completely covered with shrubs and bushes.

On the photo is part of the cemetery which is periodically maintained, but in sad shape, too.

Almost not to believe, a cemetery as ruin, my year of birth when the Germans are left out of Erdeviku
Sharpness and clarity are perfect.
Lovely composition and good presentation.

Ce vieux cimetière impose le respect. Oublié, il n'en demeure pas moins respectable, ces pierres tombales dont certaines sont mangées par la végétation gardent encore fière allure.

Atmospheric picture of this old cemetry. I do wonder if a shot with a grave up front instead of a tree might not even be stronger. Nice one as it is, though. Congratulations.
