Vlaming Head Lighthouse

In 1942 the US Government built the nearby Naval Communications Very Low Frequency Center and when in 1969 a light was mounted on its tower 11 the Vlaming Head Lighthouse became obsolete and ceased to function. Today, after being restored, the lighthouse is in the process of being converted to house a maritime museum which is supposed to open in a near future.

After the success of this picture, which became the highest scored photo in my gallery, I am posting today a night view of the same place, depicting the lighthouse in silhouette against the beautiful colours of the sunset. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did when took the picture.
