The Manneken Pis of Finland is a huge pink giant located in Jätkäsaari. Even if you haven’t been to Brussels, you’ve probably heard about Manneken Pis.

One reason why Bad bad boy isn’t as famous as his peeing colleague in Brussels is probably its location. Jätkäsaari is not in the middle of the city centre but it’s easy to reach by tram (lines 6T and 7).
Sculptor Tommi Toija’s pink Bad Bad Boy is 8,5 meters high and weighs 7,5 tons. The concrete sculpture can be found in Jätkäsaari in Tyynenmerenaukio, next to the West Harbour and Verkkokauppa-store.

The sculpture was born in Örebro, Sweden and was first introduced to the public during the public art OpenAir event in 2013. The construction of the statue required a crane – among many other extraordinary tools. Bad bad boy moved to Finland in 2014, first to to the city centre. The statue peed from the Market Square to the Baltic Sea for a couple of weeks during the Helsinki Festival before it was transferred to its current location.

If you go and check Bad bad Boy, remember also to visit the roof top terrace of the Verkkokauppa.com. The sea view is magnificent and if you’re interested in heavy armament, you can find a MIG-21 fighter interceptor up there – Finland bought these types of fighters from the Soviet Union in the 1960´s.

Hello Piotr,
I was surprised to find this peculiar statue in this place. I have very clear memories of seeing it in the city center in August 2014, which seems correct according to the note. I am sure I took photos (how could I not?) but I haven't posted any. Maybe a lot of people in Helsinki found it embarrassing to have this statue in an area where all foreign tourists spend time. It's maybe not a beautiful monument, but it's more entertaining than the uninteresting Manneken Pis.

Hello Piotr,
A great photo of this huge artwork, a humorous parody of Manneken Pis in Brussels. The grey background made the boy stand out well and it was also a lovely, sunny day. The cars, people and food stall seem so small and add a nice sense of scale.

Hello Piotr,

I saw this statue in October 2014 by the harbour but by the time Malgo visited Helsinki in winter it had disappeared. Perhaps it was too cold for him by the sea? Good sharpness and nice warm cold color contrasts. Tfs!

Ha! Ha! Piotr, The statue looks embarrassed! And why wouldn't he be, relieving himself so publicly!
He has obviously ceased to be noticed by the local people and I think Gert my be right about the reason for moving him.

However, he is a bit of fun and I would have had to take a photograph, had I see it!

Cześc Piotrze, Oj, jaki duzy ten chłopiec i jaki niegrzeczny! ma zabawna mine, chyba zawstydzony. Ciekawsze to od brukselskiego, ale sikających na mapę Czech w Pradze trudno pobić. Ze tez ja nie widziałam tego pomnika!

curious sculpture, it has a mix of modern and naif style.the surprise of the personage is a nice aspect and I liekd the modern building as a BG, a pity the food stall and the propaganda placards around. an excellent and surprising photo. TFS.

Piotr, that heavy concrete sculpture is not really aesthetic it is maybe the reason why it has not been placed in Helsinki city center. It should be more beautiful if the bad bay could piss in a fountain or in a pool planned around it. Original artwork

Hi Piotr.
The Manneken Pis of Brussels is so small that you can pass by it and not realize it, the same does not happen with this, its large size makes it very visible, I love the expression on his face, like looking sideways to see if someone I reprimand him, I love him, very nice, I didn't see him when he was in Helsinki and he was unaware of his existence.
Good lighting and sharpness management.

no cos, mialem napisac ze oryginalny pomysl ale okazue sie ze pomysl "skopiowany" z Belgii :)
Na pewno stwarza sporo ciekawych okazji do zjec.
Np ten bialy samochod moglby zaparkowac pod fontanna...
Juz nie mowie o tym ze w wielu miastach ludzie wchodza pod wszelakie fontanny w gorace dni zeby sie schlodzic...
Ale nawet bez takich dodatkow zdjecie robi wrazenie!

Now that's a weird sight! While the Manneken Pis in Belgium actually looks like a little boy, this statue looks like an old man who can't hold his pee any longer! Ha ha! The fact that nobody seems to be looking at the giant peeing man makes the scene even more surreal. I like it. :-)
