I returned today from a relaxing holiday in Tunisia after a hard summer of work. And I'm glad I chose a quiet destination, without hordes of tourists. And the weather was excellent too, with sunshine and 30 degrees all week. What I show you is the beach of Kelibia, in the north east of Tunisia. Kélibia is a coastal city of Tunisia located near Cape Bon and belonging to the governorate of Nabeul. The city has 43,000 inhabitants and is an important fishing port.
Its name derives from the Phoenician port of Clupea, occupied by Agathocles in 310 BC and destroyed by Scipione in 146 BC The main monument of the city is the Byzantine fortress of the sixth century that overlooks the port. Nearby are also the remains of a Roman villa that preserves valuable mosaics depicting hunting scenes.
The municipality of Kélibia was established in 1957.
The modern center extends inland, in the center of an agricultural area with cultivation of legumes, vines and tobacco. Often from Kélibia the island of Pantelleria is visible which is only 70 km from the Tunisian coast.

L'ESTATE NON E' FINITA

Sono tornato oggi da una vacanza rilassante in Tunisia dopo una dura estate di lavoro. E sono contento di aver scelto una destinazione tranquilla, senza orde di turisti. Ed anche il tempo è stato eccellente, con sole e 30 gradi per tutta la settimana. Quella che vi mostro è la spiaggia di Kelibia, al nord est della Tunisia. Kélibia è una città costiera della Tunisia sita nei pressi di Capo Bon e appartenente al governatorato di Nabeul. La città conta 43.000 abitanti ed è un importante porto peschereccio.
Il suo nome deriva dal porto fenicio di Clupea, occupato da Agatocle nel 310 a.C. e distrutto da Scipione nel 146 a.C. Monumento principale della città è la fortezza bizantina del VI secolo che sovrasta il porto. Nei pressi si trovano anche i resti di una villa romana che conserva pregevoli mosaici raffiguranti scene di caccia.
Il comune di Kélibia è stato istituito nel 1957.
Il centro moderno si estende nell'entroterra, al centro di una zona agricola con coltivazioni di legumi, vitigni e tabacco. Spesso da Kélibia è visibile l'isola di Pantelleria che dista solo 70 km dalla costa tunisina.

Looks like a beautiful place to postpone the end of summer. A wonderful view of the coastline here with the beautiful dunes in the distance. The foreground is well balanced between beach and sea. You had the beach almost completely to yourself!

when you told me you were going to Tunisia, I had a feeling it was for a beach holiday :) You Love your beaches. We see many footprints in the sand, but not many people. Seems like you know which beach is most quiet. nice shot from your relaxing time. cheers

I hardly noticed you were gone. You must have been looking at TE even in Tunisia. Well, nobody can spend the entire days on the beach. ;-)
This looks quite perfect. Warm and sunny, a long beach with soft sand and very few persons on it. Or maybe the crowds were just behind your back. Also fine colours and a very nicely balanced composition following the rule of thirds both horizontally and vertically.

Lovely almost empty beach of Mediterranean shore of Tunisia. There's plenty of footprints though, so more people have been there. Nice angle quite close to the waterline.

Hello Luciano, i hope you enjoyed your holidays in Tunisia to relieve stress, take rest. I don t know that part of the country. That beach located near Nabeul attracts the tourists with its sandy beach and turquoise water. I see that place is not crowded with people, that s a good thing for the traveller not for the local business. Fine colors, good image quality and excellent depth, absorbing photo note, regards.

Ciao Luciano, Already back home? You had short holidays. it is not the kind of holidays in my style, but after the very hard you have had recently you deserve some laziness and calmness. Nice empty beach, good for walking, And what about swimming? the water looks very inviting. This year I had no swimming, and probably on my next trips also :(.

What an amazing place to have a rest.
I think I will rather postpone indefinitely my trip to Tunisia though after two incidents of gun shooting against tourists on the beach. What a pity some people make so much damage to the tourism.
I am glad I can watch it through your lens.

A beautiful composition with this lonely beach of golden sand, which tells us that summer is over, a calm sea breaking in soft waves on the sand, beautiful effect of the dunes in the background.

These off-season holidays are often better than those in the main season, as you won't meet that much tourist. Plus, in Tunisia, you must have had a nice weather. The photo itself is a nice postcard. You visited a really nice place.

I'm very sure that you've enjoyed your stay at this long and almost empty beach very much.
The temperatures were very good.
Beautiful huge dunes at the end of the bay.
The question I ask myself is how safe is Tunisia for someone who wants to travel individually. I've been there only once a long time ago, in 1986. Not exactly my best travel memories but perhaps the country has changed. Everything changes.
I surely understands it is beautiful.
