Photographer's Note

Duck ponds are a typical feature of Czech village architecture and are often found in the centre of a village... the purpose is stated in their name... they really used to serve for villagers to breed ducks and geese, which is now very rare though.

Hello Romana,

This is a beautiful photograph just to look at and enjoy. The soft light is lovely.
The features are all well positioned in the frame, the small building with its exquisite reflection being particularly strong.
It's a lovely time of the year, when things are still waiting to grow but the anticipation makes us very optimistic.

the sun light in this picture is fantastic, and has resulted in some wonderfully well saturarted colours. the browns of the trees and grassses works very well with the blues in the water and sky. nice positioning of the hut in a great composition.

Careful composition and the lovely soft colour tones in this exposure have made a simple duck pond into a delightful and rather elegant scene, at the same time as preserving its rusticity. Beautiful shapes of trees, sunshine making a highlight of the small building, and of course a wonderful reflection. Superb.

Hello Romana,

Your note is interesting. I presume that the villagers used to breed the ducks and geese as a souce of food? In this country, large houses and estates used to have dovecots in which pigeons bred and lived and they were used to provide a source of meat during wintertime.

Beautiful warm lighting and fabulous warm colours too. The composition is excellent and I love the little building near the waterside and its beautiful reflection. Perfect exposure, a stunning sky and exquisite sharpness and detail.

I must read my e'alerts more carefully, then I wouldn't have missed this.

A beautifully composed image, and some lovely gentle light, both contrive to give a lovely image of a life gone by. The reflections, especially of the little hut add a great deal too.

Well seen.

I see John refers you to other systems of our past; rabbits were 'cultivated' too, in their own warrens, hence our surname Warren, or even Warrener. We also use Pond as a surname too, not sure about cot or loft thoguh !
