Photographer's Note

Another exposition in the same museum at the same day as the picture I posted yesterday. Two portraits of "erfgooiers" by the well-known Dutch photographer Koos Breukel. An erfgooier is a male member of an old regional cooperation of farmers, who had the right of exploring collective grasslands. The old lady is not impressed by the gloomy look of the exposed erfgooiers.

Hello Huub,
This is a brilliant capture from a museum, just the way such photos should be made. Two grumpy old men on the wall and a grumpy old woman on the floor. She is well placed between the large photos and her clothes match the wall and floor perfectly. This is a photo that should make any photographer happy.

Dag Huub,
Ja, dit was een mooi stelletje en mooi gefotografeerd. Door Koos maar ook door jou.
Mijn oma heette de Gooijer. Ze scheen wel ergens af te stammen van deze club, maar dan van de arme tak, zoals ze dat altijd zei.
Als de oude dame wat chiquere kleding aangetrokken had kon ze misschien wel tot de club behoren.
Mooie compositie met een zeer passend frame.

Excellent capture full of humour. I can't make up my mind who looks the grumpiest, the lady nonchalantly walking by, or the two photographic subjects. One may imagine perhaps a conversation between this threesome or perhaps not.

what a difference a live person can make in this scene.
she totally steals the show, without here the photo just wouldn't have the same impact.
and of course the yellow and green outfit has something to do with that as well!
love the two men in the bg too

Bonjour Huub

J'aime beaucoup cette composition. Il suffisait d'attendre que le sujet choisit passe et la symétrie est parfaite. J'aime aussi le léger flou qui apporte du mouvement à l'ensemble.

I just love the implications!
The body language says it all!
You have timed the shot perfectly, so that the two grim-faced men are equally spaced behind the sprightly, colourful old lady! She is having nothing more to do with these joy-spoilers!

I love your presentation, too. The border perfectly complements the colour scheme of the museum.

Hello Huub,

The slight motion blur of the well positioned elderly woman contrasts well with the pin sharp duo of portraits. Excellent color and saturation and a good decisive moment. The guy at right looks like a dour version of Uncle Fester from the Adams Family! Tfs!

Deze foto is heel goed doordacht gemaakt, met de beide portretten zeer mooi scherp.
De dame tussen de twee portretten iets minder scherp, en dit is net zo goed uitgevoerd.

Hello Huub,

This is a brilliant candid photograph taken in a museum and with remarkable light and colours considering that the light levels here were probably rather poor.

You have timed this shot perfectly to capture the old lady just at exactly the right point as she passes between the larger than life images of two rather grumpy looking old men. And, while they are dressed in dark and sombre clothing, she is sporting bright yellow trousers and a colourful striped top - quite in contrast to the other two subjects.

An excellent photograph, well seen and very well taken and with good light, rich vibrant colours and exquisite details and sharpness.

Brilliant!

Hallo Huub,
een foto die je werkelijk aan het denken zet. Wat gebeurt hier? Maar vooral hoe interpreteer je het? Een foto genomen op het juiste moment. Misschien wel vier foto's in een? De titel van de foto begrijp ik niet zo goed. Er zijn denkbaar meer pakkende titels mogelijk die de diepte van dit moment meer recht aan doen.

I like very much the way perspectives work, creating strong connections between the two men in the portraits, the lady and the viewer of your picture. The placement and the movement of the lady are so significant, her cheerful colours contrast those of the portraits and the museum wall. Die prachtige en karakteristieke portretten van de Erfgooiers kan ik me nog goed herinneren. Het is een uitstekende foto met de dame mooi precies tussen de foto's in gefotografeerd. De felle kleuren van haar kleding steken mooi af tegen de wand. Volgens mijn vader schijnen we in de familie nog ergens een tak met Erfgooiers gehad te hebben, maar ik ben toch meer Haarlemmer, ook al woon ik nu sinds een tijdje in het Gooi.
