Photographer's Note
Please open both photos in a new tab.rnThe small town of Lockhart in the Riverina area of NSW calls itself the "Verandah Town" as all the shops along the main business street retain their original verandahs. Many also retain the original frontages and signage above the verandahs.rnMany are now empty but most have window displays hinting at their past, for example the one in the workshop. That makes it a very pleasant town to walk around.

Hi Ian.
A small town in a panoramic scene presents itself very charming. The sidewalk overlapping verandahs probably provide enough much needed shade to the businesses during hot summer season. I saw similar looking streets in Fremantle, WA.
I wish you a prosperous new year!!!

Hi Ian.
It's quite distinctive architecture and different to anything I have seen in Europe or the western USA. Hope they preserve it and never stick a McDonalds there instead! Good choice of a panoramic crop with superb sharpness. Tfs!

The long, one level building with an arcade reminds the Wild-West in America, Ian, there is a town with same name in Texas, but surely this one has a bit with Australia characteristic's.
My curiousity took me to Google-Map, found this rural town and this precise spot at -35.221, 146.713 - both sides of the stret have same architecture's.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hi Ian,
I remember seeing a similar place on a pit stop from Berowra back in 2018. I even went inside an antique shop. It felt like it was a time travel to the 60's that time. Nice docu. photo. Thanks for sharing. :-)
Kind regards,
Mics

Hello Ian,
These buildings are very nice, and the photos are well exposed and sharp. But it's a pity that so many shops have been abandoned. A lively atmosphere means as much as nice architecture for the impression of a town.
Regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,
The diagonal line of the street is giving dynamism to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the buildings. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian,
I think we all like to be reminded of our history. How old do you think these original verandas are? They must be very useful, protecting customers and window displays, from the sunlight!
You do well to remind us about the New Tab view for, in the larger format, this photograph is so much clearer and sharper!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ian,
Looks like an interesting place. At the same time, It made me wonder, where the name comes from. We also have this word in Hungary for these kind of porches, we call it veranda, without the 'h' at the end.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Ian, this does look like a good place to have a stroll and take some pictures.
This shot is taken from a good viewpoint.
I like the workshop picture too, I was amused by one of the features of the Blue Bird, ‘sit down meals’, I have never seen that described at a restaurant before. And I notice that not only did they once serve meals, they had books and a museum, very enterprising. But thinking about it, maybe distances between towns meant that businesses had to use their initiative.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello Ian,
A very quiet street but the buildings along it are really attractive and have got many fine details. I like the wide composition. Also the clouds make a great backdrop.

Hi Ian,
very stylish architecture indeed. It must be a pleasure to walk around this town with a camera. In spite of a cloudy weather the scene is so full of light and the clouds are adding a nice decorative touch to it.
Very well done,
M
