Photographer's Note

Just to the west of the Navajo Bridge at Lee's Ferry is this sandstone butte. Its shape reminded me of the Sphinx, though I wonder whether an image had been carved into the face of the butte, one that has collapsed due to time or weather.

Nice colour contrast, great sharpness and an informative note.
The front of the "sphynx" looks a bit like an entrance to a hidden palace inside.

Hi Mark

A good light to reveal that butte while the high cliffs at the back are in the shade. The low light creates some shadows giving the sense of 3D.
