Photographer's Note
Many of the trees in the rainforest of Mossman Gorge have butress roots. These serve to hold the tree up and also gathering nutrients. In the poor soil, nutrients are found near the surface, so the roots grow wide rather than deep.
The shape of and light on these roots made them especially interesting.

Hello Stephen.
This is a nice coloured picture with strong vertical and curved lines. Maybe quality further inclines by darkening the spot left under a little bit. TFS,
Have a nice day,
Huub de K.

The post work has really contributed to the image.
Isn't nature amazing.

Dear Steve,
These tree roots are pretty fascinating - they remind me of the trees at Ta Prohm, Cambodia...but those are quite old looking.
The colour and lighting effect gives life to the tree, I agree.
TFS,
May

Hi Stephen
I like the curves of the roots of this tree, well enhanced by the backlight, the color contrast between the tree trunk anf the green foliage. Only something is missing to give the scale.
Cheers
