Photographer's Note
Known as the cloud piercer, Mt Aoraki/Cook is nearly always seen with clouds. It gave me a different take that morning, not a single cloud in sight as it bathed in the autumn light. Taken from the well known
St Peter's Lookout.

Long time no see James, thought you'd gone AWOL down there in the Sth Island. And with views like this, no wonder. The light off Mt Cook is spectacular and even with that warm light you've managed still to keep the irridescent blue colour to the lake, I remember well how blue it was! Excellent sharpness again even the light in the FG grass is superb. Great job as usual. Have a good one, Lisa

An excellent shot very well composed. The colors of the mountains look beautifully warm in the rays the setting sun (it looks to me so). Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jim.
Ahhh, so beautiful! The low sun makes a great light on the summits and still, the trees and the lake also have great morning colours. I really like all the green textures on the trees. Mt. Cook is a very nice mountain located in the perfect area.

Hello Jim,
Great photograph of spectacular scenery. Well composed, beautiful colours and great light.
The image does me think somehow of old (fifties?)postcards or movie advertisement.
Here we are enjoying the light and colours of springtime.

Hi Jim
A great landscape where the rising peak breaks the descending diagonal, timing is great as the sun begins to caress the snow highlights on the peak, good panoramic framing
Have a nice day JY

Hi Jim.
Fantastic photo. I love the colour tones that, to me, derive to some extent from the CPL, but obviously also to the prevailing weather and morning light. The clarity is astounding. I love this type of photo, with a winding road, partly hidden, in the foreground and the enormous focal point set way back, but associated with the road perhaps as a destination. And that tinge of light blue in the lake - I wonder if it's that stuff that... er... makes the lake look light blue? Can't remember what it is but do remember seeing it in Hokitika and other lakes in the area. But perhaps it's not that at all. Anyway, it's a terrific shot.

Andrew

Hi Jim
Very pretty light on Mount Cook and on the hill on the left. That the the straight road guide the eye nicely to the summit.

Hi Jim,
Aoraki evaded me when I travelled down this road, as heavy cloud clung to the side of the peak. A break in the weather meant I did get to see Mt. Sefton up close which was the peak jutting out to the left in this photo I gather. I later got to see the summit of Cook and Tasman from the air which made up for this. The light here is superb; the eastern faces of the peaks are lit up spectacularly. The colour palate is varied and almost surreally beautiful. I like the panoramic crop of this photo.

Wonderful wonderful colours indeed. Your photos of NZ make me want to visit NZ again, and this time armed with my DSLR.
Where are your photos of the Route Burn Track?
