Photographer's Note

This is the famous jewelry store Tiffany's, decked out with its holiday decorations. This luxury store on the corner of Fifth Avenue and East 57th Street has been selling jewelry, perfume, watches, and other accessories since 1837, and has been in this particular building since 1940.

As many of you probably know, this store is featured in the title of Truman Capote’s novella “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, and in the movie of the same name from 1961 starring Audrey Hepburn. There is now a café on the fourth floor of Tiffany’s called Blue Box Café, and it is actually possible to have breakfast there. :-) I’ve read that reservations are really difficult to get, though…

A great photo of this building, which features in the famous book. I read it a few years ago. The large firework-like decorations look very festive and spectacular. The yellow cabs are well included in the foreground as well. Have a great New Year's Eve and a wonderful new year!

Happy New Tear 2019 to you and your family! Of course, I remember this movie with Audrey Hepburn, I am not sure if the younger Trekkers remember it too. Nice composition with the yellow cabs, yellow policemen and yellow decoration. Funny blue figures. Will you be in some hours on the Times Square with other New Yorkers?

I like the repetition of the fireworks or water fountain motifs on the wall, as well as the iconic NYC yellow taxis in the fg. Looks like a couple of security guards at right are watching you. Tfs!

hmmm....i wonder if a cup of coffee in that cafe is like $10 haha, and people would STILL pay for it. On a side note, I've always found it funny how people in general complain about spending $4.00 a Gallon for Gas ($1.50/Litre in Canada), yet people will spend $5.00 on a starbucks drink that is only a FRACTION of the size, like 200 mls. Think about it, its so silly, but thats what we do. If we had a Gallon of Starbucks coffee, that would be the equivalant to about a $1000 or something lol. Makes no sense.
anyways, its always fun to see these NYC shots, and of course the famous yellow taxi's too. Keep them coming, Happy New Year to you Brenda! cheers

Your informative capture might also be named "Cabs rushing for Tiffany's". Too much city for my opinion: I preferred to spend Christmas in the Black Forest.

Hello Brenda, a delightful shot from New York.
The decorations are distinctive, but of course this is Tiffany's, we wouldn't expect anything less.
The yellow cabs are timed perfectly as they go past, matching the yellow 'jewels' on the walls. Even the policemen are obliging with their high-vis jackets.

I have seen the movie, but certainly would not have recognized the building. Those decorations are quite stylish, and appropriate for a luxury store. Not overdone as we usually see around houses in America.
Row of yellow cabs adds rhythm to this view too.

Mid-town Mnhattan typical sight on the holidays, while this building had not changed since 1974 as I remember - only the decoration became more beautiful as time past.

Happy New Year to you, too.

Tiffany's is renown worldwide for the quality of its goods. On our TVs, if an antique bears that special name, the price quadruples!!!
But what a fine building! The decorations seem to be exploding, like their firework displays, welcoming in the New Year. I presume the yellow vehicles are cabs and they do add further colours to the scene.
This is a well composed, photograph with excellent clarity.

Personally, I think the New Year's decorations are a nice addition to the architecture.
