Photographer's Note
My wife & I when to visit the Arc de Triomphe & arrived during a rememberence service for the man & woman of France who had fallen during WW2, however I would imagine they were remembering all from other conflicts also, as bands & representatives from other services were there & they were laying some wreaths.

I should imagine it wasn't easy to frame this image, but I think the composition works well. We were there once during the VE Day celebrations and I know how crowded it gets. The billowing flag is a good focal point.

Hi Wilson,
Excellent and original shot of the Arc de Triomphe. I really like your positioning of the police car. I works well as a lead in to the main subject the policeman. He seem to be a little bit puzzled over the photographer. TFS and have a nice evening!
Cheers,
Ulf

Hi Wilson,
Very heavy to take a photo of the triumphal arch novelly. You succeeded, the policemen the real main characters, but we may take delight in the imposing sight of the triumphal arch. I like the idea, the composition and the realization likewise. Have a nice evening!

Hi Wilson, dear friend,
strange but successful marriage of Police and Arc de Triomphe. The light in the middle is wonderful to stress the flags. Your souvenirs from Paris are so emotional. Mine too.

Bonjour Wilson,
il fallait le faire, se mettre à cet endroit pour faire la photo devait être le plus difficile à faire.
Des lumières difficiles et faibles cependant très bien rendues, un sujet inhabituel.
Excellent dimanche.
Daniel.

I like the framing. Based on your note, I now undertand why you find a policeman is a n°1 dress uniform here, because of that celebration (I was about to critize the emphais on the police here, because France is not such a "police state"). There is a good reason for olding military celebrations here, which is the fact that they buried after WWI an unidentified soldier ("le Soldat inconnu") in the basement of the monument (which is much older since it commemorates the military vitories of Napoleon the First). So what what initially a triumph arch in the Roman style has become a symbol for the fallen soldiers, a bit like a cenotaph (like the one which exists in London.
All the best,
Emmanuel

Hi Wilson,
An original photo of the Arc de Triomphe and the celebration that we can see in WS. Image quality which I love. The police car is shiny and flags bring a touch of pleasant color. Wilson well done, bravo.
With all my friendships and a very good Sunday,

Hello Wilson,
Cest an impressive image, highly symbolic system. The order reigns openly. It is well seen, but you did not have the smile of the police officer. An image strange and carried out well.
Have a nice sunday

Hi, Wilson.
Intriguing, original shot. It doesn't look like you had a duckwalk at framing it, but knowing the location I can only imagine that too well. It all works absolutely fine for me, with special praise for the lighting, in my opinion the strongest feature in this one. With that greyish/silvery gleam, so typically Parisian... Excellent one, TFS and for visiting Independence Ghost Town. Have a nice evening, I'll be seeing you.
Fulvio.

Hi Wilson,
The presence of the policeman has an effect of scale. The point of view takes our eyes toward the Arc de Triomphe which is giving depth to the photo. It is also showing the details and colors of the architecture of the monument. The light is enhancing the colors of the scenery. have a nice day.

He Wilson,
I like this perspective very much, the result of a very wide angle setting on your lens. I remember climbing to the top of the Arc de Triomphe when I was 19 and taking home movies. Did you get a chance to ascend to the top by the circular staircases?
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Wilson,
Getting good framings/compo in these busy places is quite a challenge, but you achieved it here, managing to use the board walk and the cropped police car on the FG as a lead-in to the arc. Besides the arc, the policeman is very well placed and adds interest to the image, and the big flags stand out much. It's quite funny how the arch looks relatively small.
Regards, José.

Hi Wislon,
Wonderful vertical presentation of this iconic monument captured in lovely soft light.
The flags flying proudly through the arch is very compelling and the modern police car a contrast to the traditional architecture.
