Photographer's Note
Some pause from the Dutch winter views, I feel like posting something from the last summer travels...
Tour-tan Men Ruz in Breton, or Phare de Men Ruz in French, is one of the main attractions of the astonishing Coast of Pink Granite on the north coast of Brittany. The original lighthouse was built in 1860 with Ile-Grande island granite. The first was destroyed during the WW II and rebuilt in 1947 with Ploumanac'h typical granite.

Hi Alexander,
Like it, lovely warm hues contrasting against the blue, and an excellent visual progression ending on the lighthouse.
Have a nice week end JY

Hallo Alexander!
This lighthouse really seems to grow ot of the rocks, seems to be a part of them. The contrast in colours here is stunning and most attractive. I think, a very special place ...
Greetings from wet, cold and grey Westphalia - and have a nice weekend!

A fantastic picture with a deep DOF. The composition is great and the lighthouse is in the right spot. It's really lovely to see the contrast between the manmade structure and the natural rocks, even though they have the same color.

Hello Alexander,
A superb point of view emphasised by the us of the vertical format. I love the lovely pink tones in the foreground rocks, which nicely complement those of the lighthouse. Wonderful clarity throughout. The presence of the couple adds a human touch.

Bonjour, cher Alexander,

Hi Alexander.
As soon as I saw the words pink granite in your title I thought of the Breton coast and Ploumanac'h. The weather was poor when we were there in 2007, although the rain lifted and the pink granite looked spectacular. This shot is a beauty, with the exposure just right for all elements of it. I like the inclusion of some visitors and the excellent foreground of boulders. This shot makes a nice change from all the wintry postings lately. Well done.

Andrew

Hello Alexander!
The vertical format was an excellent choice!
Sharpness and exposure are correct and have given outstanding results to your photo! Colors are natural and beautiful!
Well chosen pov and superb composition: I love the shapes of those big rocks in the fg and how you placed the lighthouse a bit to the right so we can see the ocean as well!!
The picture really pleases me!
TFS - Congratulations!

Alexander,
Your composition and POV are great here showing the rocks in the foreground lead up to the tower. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. The vertical composition was a good choice allowing us to see the depth of the scene. The off center placement of the tower works great allowing us to see the sea on the left.

Hi Alexander
I see it was a beautiful day on my birthday last year ;-)
Those boulders in the foreground are so impressive and contast so well against the green sea. The people are nicely placed next to the lighthouse and show off the scale. Good choice of vertical format.

Stunning image with excellent technical quality. The depth is fantastic with a well chosen focus to ensure the image is sharp from front to back. The lighthouse is perfectly placed on a third and the tiny couple are a good feature of the scene. Well done

Hi Alexander,
Beautiful picture made mainly of only three elements, stones, water and air! Very good composition and colors! The quality is so good that the forth element (the man) and even the fifth one (the woman in red) are visible pretty well. Perfectly good job!

Hi Alexander!
Lighthouses is one of my favourite subjects and I can assure you that this is one of the most impressive photos I have seen in this subject! The lighthouse is beautiful, light managment is perfect and colours are brilliant, but I think that much of the power of this photo lies in the impressive rocks in the foreground! Congratulations!

Echt prachtige kleuren.

Hello Aleksander,
Very nice composition with a good use of vertical format. A very nice POV with these rocks, this POV give an interesting prospect effect. Vey nice balance in the composition too. The colours (of sky and of sea especially) are very well collected. The lightyhouse arise very well in the sky. The peoles gives an interesting element of life. A very ggod photowork.
Have a good evening,

Hi, Alexander -
Very strong image here, with a dominant curve from lower left to the top of the lighthouse at a "rule of thirds" point. The inclusion of the people gives us a proper sense of scale - and also a couple of splashes of color. Nice catch!
Best,
Dan

Hello Alexander
Very beautiful view of this famous lighthouse. I Like the details and the coulours. So great variety of green/blue (which in breton is the same word, GLAS)
Good construction for this picture. The lighthous seems little when compared to the rocks, but the people at the bottom of the tower give the scale. You mention "Tour-tan Men Ruz in Breton, or Phare de Men Ruz in French" in fact Men Ruz is breton and means red stones. The real name in french could be "le phare des pierres rouges", but the breton name is much more authentic.
Cheers from Brittany

Bonjour Alexander.
Excellent !

Hello Alexander,
I know this lighthouse as I try to go there if time I visit my familly. Its name means "red stone" due to the color of the granit used to build it.
Nice composition and a good lightning to put in evidence the green of the sea, so typical in the Channel.
Yves.
