Castle of San Valentino - Scheggino (PG)
Castello di poggio in a dominant position on the Nera valley (m.272), built as a villa dependent on the fiefdom of San Pietro in Valle. It is still possible to identify some traces of fortifications built around 1453, after the concession obtained by the Municipality of Spoleto to encircle the entire town with walls, now thinned out due to earthquakes and abandonment.
The small town has never had administrative autonomy but it depended on the castle of Caselli, of which it followed all the historical vicissitudes, while from the religious point of view it depended on the pieve of Civitella. In 1712, at the time of the Lascaris pastoral visit, there were 74 inhabitants.
Of great value is the small Romanesque church of San Valentino, the patron saint of lovers.
Despite the deterioration, the small castle retains its charm and is rich in interesting spontaneous building solutions,
