Photographer's Note
This is the central fountain of the Macellum (Agora / Marketplace) in the old Roman city section of Jerash. The town has been inhabited since neolithic times by various peoples such as the ancient Greeks, Romans & Byzantines. It was abandoned after a devastating earthquake in 749 AD. The Ottomans resettled it in the 16th century and today the modern city just outside the archaeological park has a population of 51,000.

Bonjour Chris,
Le cadrage serré met les ruines en évidence. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des ruines. La bonne luminosité rehausse les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,
I like the point of view and the repeating columns set against the fine blue sky. Very agreeable warm/cool tonal contrasts and excellent sharpness.

Hello Chris,
Just 150km from home, but very far from reaching the place.
Fabulous view of the main old square, the columns are impressive and made a marvelous pattern upon the image.
Have a nice weekend,
Ike

Hello Chris,
A well worth day trip from Amman (in my case). The light and colours have the same intensity as on my visit and you captured the impressive ruins well, with the fountain as a good eye-catcher in the foreground.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hi Chris
This looks like a forest made of columns. I really like the saturated colour of the sky.
Well-chosen graphic foreground.
Best wishes

Bonjour Chris,
J'ai toujours beaucoup aimé les photos comme celle-ci. Il faut croire que j'aime les ruines bien conservées, surtout lorsque la lumière les met aussi bien en valeur.
Amicalement

Hello Chris,
It is quite amazing that this ancient city has remained so well preserved for so many years. There is always a tendency for such sites to be robbed of their stones for new builds.
You have sited your camera well so that the fountain becomes a hub from which the rest of the ancient ruins fanout in an arc.
The light is glorious, helping to bring out the colours in the honey-coloured stones
Thank you for sharing this,
Bev :-)

Hello Chris,
A beautiful picture of the fountain on the foreground. Yet my attention is mainly drawn by the many remaining columns or parts of it.
Nicely presented against the plain blue sky.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Chris
Very striking shot, it really stands out from the gallery, the lines of the broken columns look like a modern city skyline and the blue and gold are perfect compliments to each other
Cheers

Hi Chris
A picturesque capture of massive Roman ruins that really caught attention. All the right elements are here to transform this into a grand image but what it was like in its heyday! The marriage of colour is just awesome to look. Your foreword adds much to one's appreciation of this image. Very well done meaningful shot, Congrats.
Best regards

Hi Chris
I think i've mentioned to you before that Jordan interests me alot and I"d like to go here. It would have to take alot of planning as I don't know the sites or geography. this would be awesome to see in its prime, trying to imagine how it looks way back in the day. I like the rustic nature of the scene and its history. thanks for this one.
cheers

Hello Chris,
The shapes are very similar to those found in Turkey, but the colors of the stones are much more earthly. I love the contrast between them and the deep blue sky.
Regards,
MT
