Entrance to the Heaven, a photo from Rome, Lazio

Photographer's Note

ROME St. Peter's Church.
The picture has been taken at the entrance to the Dome. A long way (330 stairs and 136 m of height) will follow to gain the top, but the view of Rome from there will be really astonishing. The picture is dedicated to my fiends that joned me for a small photo-meeting before Christmas all around Rome downtown: Ninello52 and Polpo56.

Hi Benedetto,
I like the composition of this shot...taken from down the stairs, you were able to capture the height of this building, but still keep the focus on the people. Nice colours, especially the glowing green of the lights and the doorway. Nice frame choice as well.

Hey Benedetto,
Very nice shot of the main entrance to the St. Peters church. What I like most about this picture is the framing of the guards, the play of light and shade..this is an extremely good shoot, especially due to the variance difference of light.

ha ragione Vinicio, sembra proprio un dipinto, e in questo caso si deve parlare di arte fotografica. Azzeccatissimo il titolo, questa foto gode della complicità data dal buon gioco di luci e ombre e dalla morbidezza dei toni interrotta solo dai punti di rosso, giusto per dare contrasto. Il leggero rumore che si nota all'interno del portone contribuisce ad ovattare piacevolmente l'atmosfera.
Decisamente una gran bella fotografia.

Thanks to an unusual atmosphere it looks like a scene from the past.
The cloths add their part to this middle ages look, but also the shade.

Già sta foto mi era piaciuta vedendola nel display della tua nikon, vedendola pubblicata se ne apprezza di più la bellezza! Colori e luce superbi.Bellissimo il taglio con il maestoso portale bronzeo che incornicia il quadro e oltre il quale si disegna l'elegante prospettiva della corte. Curioso ed intrigante il dialogo fra le tre figure.

Hi Benedetto, this is like a Renaissance painting. It also gives a human side to the Swiss Guard who are usually so stoic. I like your POV, which allows full appreciation of the beautiful doors and steps and also perspective to the arches behind. You managed the light well too: shade and light in the same shot being so difficult. Complimenti, Lisa.

perhaps this shot could be taken 500 years ago! at least this is how I imagine the place at that time :) this is what people looked like... this is kind of a beautiful timeless shot.

vedi che quando mi accorgo io di certe foto arrivo tardi e gli altri hanno gia' tirato fuori tutto...?
a me piace molto perche', come hanno gia' detto, fa venire in mente un dipinto. nello specifico, a me fa venire in mente Velazquez. il portone dietro le figure che crea la prospettiva dello sfondo, la luce dietro il portone, le tre figure davanti... etc.
se poi sia davvero l'entrata del paradiso o al paradiso... su questo si potrebbe discutere per ore.

The composition works wonderfully here - all of the elements fitting together perfectly like a jigsaw - the colours and velvet tones reveal the effects of the light beautifully - perhaps one can detect the painter in you here - as I have seen in other of your photographs.
