Photographer's Note
The 1905 French law on the Separation of the Churches and State (French: loi du 9 décembre 1905 concernant la séparation des Églises et de l'État) was passed by the Chamber of Deputies on 9 December 1905. Enacted during the Third Republic, it established state secularism in France. France was then governed by the Bloc des gauches (Left Coalition) led by Emile Combes.

Hello Philippe,
I have to say I have never seen anything similar on a French church before. Very well spotted. The point of view is well chosen and the exposure perfect to capture all the details.

Hello Philippe,
Be it Republican or whatever, this is a fine old church of an attractively simple design. The fine texture of the stones is enhanced by the good light and excellent sharpness.
Kind regards,
Gert

Bonjour Philippe,

Bon dimanche

It is a controversial issue nowadays, in many countries, but France was a pioneer back in 12/1905, on this matter, Philippe.
A picture with a note that gave reason for the scene, well under fine light and clarity.
Bonsoire'e,
Ike

Bonjour cher Philippe,
the bold close up to the facade of the historic church, the sharp textures, strong contrasts and prominent placement of the inscription, make your presentation look very attractive and somehow dramatic. The colours are lovely and make a strong impact, the shadows play an interesting role as frames. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great afternoon,
Ourania

Ciao Philippe
Saluti
Carlo

Dobar dan.
Lep pogled, dobar tekst ...

Amicalement

Bonjour Philippe,
Excellent church close-up photo with very nice colors, perfect light, very good clarity and splendid details. Also the choice of tight cropping suits the shape of the subject and its surroundings.
Nicely done.

Salut Philippe
The "liberty, egality, fraternity" plaque is an intriguing addition to the wall of the old church and hearkens back to the traumatic events of 1789. I fear we are slipping back to those days before 1789 with a wealthy global elite of corporations exerting increasing power and control over finances and politics to the detriment of the middle and working class people. Good sharpness, shadow play and framing. Tfs!

Hello Philippe,
Although I do not speak French, the title seems to be saying "A Very Republican Church," am I right? I like the textures of the facade and the hand pump for water.

Bonjour mon ami
