Photographer's Note
Continuing on a more abstract mood.
Skinhead is one of the "avenues" in Ilha... such a big word to name a broader sand path than its parallels. I've never undesrtood the reason why someone tagged "Skinhead" on the wall of this avenue, neither did my fellow young guide Jackson, who led me through the streets of Ilha at night.
I like shooting at night mostly because of the artificial lighting : this photo shows why. I do not like to correct the white balance, I prefer the twisted tungsten colors... sunlight white balance it is and it stays on my camera.

Hi Luko -
A ghostly image of a night time rider - its very effective. You must have been suprised and happy with this result - its like the camera has captured him in shadow.
The overly yellow and orange light works fine.

Dave

the contrast between the wall bathed in street light and the interior light is very nice - simple shot but effective

Your link to your pbase account...?
You sent us over to see something really good in there - The 'skinheads' photo is an outstanding piece of photography...
It’s the one with a 'contact' – a feature so precious in almost any field of photography.
The photo speaks for itself.
Up here…?
We have something of an absolute fake (and sooooo common in the circles) –
A scene of 'nothing'.
Gosh... How many times you, Luko – have you seen this bicycle passing’ pattern...?
The empty (or not) wall behind, and some fuzzy silhouettes (or not)...
What…Half-a-million times (that is on TE/TL alone) ?
The same drab, pseudo-artistic motive repeated over and over again.
Maybe...I say, maybe... Some hundred years ago it was sensational, but now...
In the world of gigabits per minute flooding our brains constantly...(???)
The picture is blurred (1/13 of a sec. seems to be too long - sometimes) yet...You’ve decided to pretend that this is an art and not a technical, basic flaw?
The only good output of my critique will be such, it will generate nice comments and praises from the best on the site towards this post....
Trembling from anticipation to see them all...
yours
g.

Hi Luko, I liked this photograph when I saw it in your PBase account. And I still like it. The tungsten light and the blurred shadows have created a magical effect...I only wish the background was much more crisp...if you know what I mean..
I know the demands on you are higher...
...having seen some your shots in Pbase account from your recent trip, I think this one picture adds a lot of punch to your series..cheers!

Hi Luko,
Greenish and brownish lights indeed make an interesting colour combination. Strong impressionistic feeling. I wish the interior look a bit sharper. I wonder what makes the stutter effect on the cyclist.

I am going to be honest with you. I have to. I like it a lot. :) For mainly two reasons. The copper yellows are out of this world. I really support your choice of not "messing" with the WB. It has created a tone so good and so out of the ordinary that completely transforms the mood of the scene. And then there is that door waving there in the left. It's so 3D, the colors so fitting to the overall warm balance. But what I really like is the ghostly blur of the biker. It seems that you deconstructed the flesh of that human. It seems a disintegration of every human molecule. So pointillist, so charcoal. It's really amazing.

le flou et surtout cette tonalité sont magnifiques... cette partie que constitue l'entrée vers l'intérieur de la maison contraste bien avec des tonalités plus vertes, bleues. Du toute beauté...

Well you know alread from pbase how I feel about this one, Luko. I mean I've been a fan of thi pic from the start. Seeing it here on my sharp home screen it is as if the passing cclis was incrusted (Hiroshima-like), I mean impressed, prited into the surface of the wall and the screen - i's quite an extraordinary and somewhat spooky efect.
I dunno how you feel about a much commented recent VN pic of mine "Dark side of the moon" but I think it has auite a few things in common with this one.
Great stuff,
Francis

Really dig this one Luko, such thick atmosphere from that orange lighting and strong contrast and love that haunting figure on the bike.

Strange blur with abstract mood, silhouette of bicycle carved for nine or ten. It's really amazing tungsten colors like film.
Sunlight white balance it is and it always stays on my camera, too.

bonjour luko,

Excelente resultado.
Saludos,
Mirari.

Ahh...Luko, what a marvelous impressionism! Terrific work.
[I hardly ever use the word 'work' in connection with photography in TE, but the intensity of your photography lately leaves me no option here]

Hey,
After long time..
This is beautiful..
Passing cycle may be million times on TE..
But I know you well, you do not want to be a king of TE..nor TE is final word for you!!! ;)
New set of Photos on PBASE is amazing but I need to go again through that in detail.
Probably wise choice not to select this white balance & this is THE atmosphere well matched to THE feelings what one feel while seeing this..
Nice work. ..

Hi Luko
I understand why you prefer these colors, it is indeed very special, i like the almost red hue in it.
The ghostlike person passing by on the bicycle is another good effect here, doesn't look like the usual motion blur, more like a cloud (if that makes sense:)

Hola,
