Taksim-Tunen
9th-century Pera (Beyoğlu), a traditional tram trundled along the Grande Rue de Pera (İstiklal Caddesi) for 1.64 km (1 mile) connecting Taksim Square with Galatasaray and Tünel Square (map).

The tram was taken out of service in 1961, replaced by buses.

After İstiklal Caddesi became a pedestrian zone, the tram was restored and revived in 1990.

Although it's as much a curiosity as a means of transport, you'll find it useful if your feet are tired while walking Beyoğlu's main shopping and dining avenue. You can use your Istanbulkart to ride (here's more on fares)The historic tram cars are small and cannot hold many passengers, and are often full. The ride is relatively slow (for one thing, the conductor must constantly ring his bell to clear the way of pedestrians), but pleasant—a good quick tour of İstiklal Caddesi.

avec la jneige de chaqe côté de la route quelle vue de ce tam ce rouge et blanc, la fenêtre avant quei brille ces personnages qui marchent dans la rue avec les reflet

Hello dear Costantino,
Very nice capture from my Homecity taken with perfect pov and sharpness.
This tram nowadays is only a turistical attaraction but during my childhood it was a majör transport system of the city.
On those days day had red and green waggons. Red was first class and the green ones second class and cheaper.
Those were the days :-)

Great crop to go for this format, Constantino. I also like the light and how the red stands out. Istanbul in snow always reminds me of the movies (Uzak)...the letter sign on the tram is great too & a perfect title for the shot!

To me a nostalgic photo, in the past trams in my city were similar to this tram in your photo, they are today a part of history, a very nice picture

I've been up and down that street many times but not in winter after a fall of snow. Good sharpness and the red tram contrasts well with the blue shadow at right. Tfs!

I always enjoy these shots of the famous red and white trams in Istanbul. They're very photogenic, I captured a few shots of them as well. The sun was bright here, and I like the reflections captured on the windows too, thats an added bonus. This one brings back fond memories, I like it :)

Melting snow certainly adds it's own charm to this view. I wonder how often it snows over there. The tram line between Taksim and Tünel is certainly a classic. Those old red trams look so good.
