Photographer's Note

Like my last posting this photo was removed due to the frame being unexeptable &, they were taken off at the same time & again I was very upset over this, however I am reposting as it is part of my series on China.

This man was a boatman who took us down an outlet of the Yangtze on a Pansam, it was a very tourist thing but it was fun, the man sang a traditional song & he was terrible, however good on him I say, the outlet we traveled down was around 50-60 metres deep & about 5 years ago these same boatman had to get out of these boats & drag them over rocks as the water was that shallow, however due to the daming the waters have risen that much & are still rising.

Beauttiful vertical presentation of this brightly clad floating between the lovely green rocks walls. Wonderful depth is seen as we look past your subject and the next boat that is located just before the next bend in the green river. Very clear colors and excellent details to this fine work.

Very nice furry hat, and excellent background with the gorge and the other boat. The orange life jacket gives a touch of colors, but looks very strange with the traditional costume.

Hi, wilson. Good portrait of that boatman. You've placed him in a good position opening the view onto the second boat and on the high cliffs on both sides of the river. His hat is certainly one of the 'highlights' of the picture.

Sorry to read about your frame woes, Wilson. I personally prefer viewing pictures without them. This is a fine capture from a low pov. Orange is a bit too strong for my taste, esp. the color cast on the man's face. Composition is very good. Regards,

Very nice portriat of this man in such a beautiful setting. What a hat! I love it. Per half the orange is a bit overdone, it very intense, could just be the way it is, but I would tone it donw a bit. Other than that, perfect.

Yeah, i know other members whose photos have been removed due to "unacceptable framing" policy. But thay forget how much the content is suitable for TE motto.
Very interesting (and a bit funny) hat, and very attractive orange of the life jacket. The place seems already great, but presenting it with its inhabitants and means of transport, is the greatest idea of all. Good note as well. TFS,

I remember very well the first post, but not the frame, so I am sure I didn't find it excessive. He looks like a sympathetic fellow. The orange of his clothes and of the flag of the other ship makes a nice contrast with the surrounding green of the hills and water. The compo is very achieved, combining harmoniously his pose with the ravine on the BG and both boats. The DOF is perfect, with the bokeh behind and the other boat on the limit of total blur.

I've never seen anyone play up the colors of those orange life vests but this fellow is perfectly coordinated, and well framed against the green river gorge. The hat is just amazing, I've never seen one like it. Is it a commonly seen item? What material is used in the construction?
