Photographer's Note

All yemeni women wear veils and completely cover themselves up. All you can really see is her eyes, everything else (including sometimes her hands) is covered in black. They look extremely elegant and mysterious that way. They look undistinguishable. Their eyes are the only trigger, hint.... You can only imagine the rest....

Hello Krzysztof. Yes they look very msterious and elegant indeed. I wonder how het they get under the Yemeni sun under such indumentary. I like your picture because of the natural look in her eyes. Good portrait :-)

Very attractive and powerful picture. Very simple yet really appealling.

How was that trip ? Would you say that it's easy for a married woman to enjoy that kind of country as a traveller ? My wife and I are thinking about Yemen or Oman ;)

HI Krzysztof, Certainly a lot of mystery is hiding behind that veil; the strong and sparkling eyes are a very sensuous trigger. I imagine it's a trick that works rather well! It somehow must be a fun game for those women, but I guess there aren’t only positive sides to the story. Amazing that this woman has allowed you, a man, to come so close to take this wonderful portrait photo. You must have gained her trust. no Krzysku! jak to dobrze Cie znow widziec w akcji! martwilem sie - brak zdjec, brak kontaktu (slalem Ci maila jakies cztery miesiace temu), wiec tym bardziej sie ciesze ze wszystko dobrze; wstawiaj fotki w swoim - jakze cudownym - stylu;
czekam na wiesci z wyprawy!

Excellent crop, the clash of color is an eye catcher, and speaking of the eyes.... How did you manage to get permission to photograph her? They're very serious over there about photographing women, even with a 99% "coverage".

It must have been pretty difficult to make this shot, so kudos. Nice composition, beautiful color contrast. I love the simplicity of the shot which allows us to focus simply on the eyes. Happy 2013
