Dhaka butcher, a photo from Dhaka, North

Photographer's Note

This is a typical butcher's shop in the old town of Dhaka - 34 degree heat, high humidity, no refrigeration and blood all over the floor - just the right conditions for the hygienic preparation of meat ;)

I expect this picture would make butchers in western countries shudder, but this is very typical of many developing countries. I have seen worse. I took this shot with no fill flash because I wanted to maintain the dark and dingy atmosphere of the butcher's shop in the photograph.

Nice shot, David, good composition and good storytelling. Lots of interesting textures, too. I have to like it because I have a very similar image here.
