Photographer's Note
.
I took this at the infamous "Stung Meanchey garbage mountain" during my 18-hour brief stay at Phnom Penh last year. I regret that I cannot afford a longer stay due to my running-out of budget and energy that cut short my trip.
I think you already heard about the story of destination, Stung Meanchey Landfill. This is another snapshot showing people having lunch right on the spot without basic hygienic condition. The question is survival.
I shot this almost 2 years ago. Hopefully these people are in better situation now.
God bless them!

Hello Thanh,
I clicked on the link on the landfill and went through the slideshow. What an incredible way to live and survive!! I thank you for posting this photo showing how some people actually live on a day to day basis. I thought I would share these three verses from the book of Proverbs;
"He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done." Proverbs 19:17
"If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered." Proverbs 21:13
"A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor." Proverbs 22:9

Thanh, excellent capture. Caught my eye immediately. Geometrically captivating, but true to the place as well... regards, c

hello Thanh,
Thankyou for the link to the garbage mountain. Your photo and your useful link is what trekearth is all about. The world may be full of beautiful places but many people live very difficult and dangerous lives.

Another great shot from your series, Thanh. The composition is superb but, once again, I find it difficult to talk about tech stuff with this kind of images. Thanks for posting it and for showing it to us.

Hello Than. A very interesting and well composed photo. In the foreground the man with the drinking container, in the background dominates is a further person to be seen. Also the tent is an important element for the photo. The picture pleases me well. Many greetings, Wolfgang.

The location of this shot is just a detail. It could be elsewhere in our bad world. (Anyway, thank for the link).
This picture says more than all the speeches at the UN a few days ago.

Hi Thanh!
Even you had a brief stay there I think that's enough time for such an experience to leave marks on someone's conscience. I appreciate your composition, its message it's strong as you use to share.
Thank you for your contribution!

Thank you for adding this to your album on Stung Meanchey. I do not like to see people suffering like that, but without your eye-witnessed photos, I am blind at the pain of others.
Regards,
Christine
