Myself and a fellow traveller hired moto drivers for the day and took a tour around the countryside from battambang. It was not such a visited place and very different to the much more touristy Siem Reap. As we drove along we caused quite a stir with children standing by the side of the road giving us high fives.
At one village our drivers let us off and we walked through the village coming to a small school at the end of it. There we were entertained by the children, or maybe we entertained them - taking their photos on digital camera and letting them laugh at their images. They just loved it! The bell rang and they all scampered into the classrooms. No teachers to be seen however and the kids just stood laughing and smiling at the window. We eventually saw the teachers: they were standing by the school gate having a chat and a cigarette.
The thing which got me was how similiar kids are all over the world. Just as noisy, cheerful and no doubt at times, naughty.
