Photographer's Note
A group of people move about at the Stung Meanchey dump site in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Stung Meanchey has been much photographed and written about. In 2003, the NY Times did a story about the life of the people who work there. Not much has changed. The famous and brilliant Dakowicz has several great photographs posted here on TE as does Sothy81, ngythanh and fireflyz.
I will be showing some of the current conditions at the dump in the next few days to highlight the fact that change is needed.
Their are many issues regarding this dump site including child labor, dangerous working conditions, recycled plastic and so forth.
Visit the other photographers photos as well and realize that not one of these photos should have been taken. The site should not exist in it's current condition, nor should small children spend their days working in these conditions.

Hi John,
and the great man returns. Have seen some superb photos (in the photojournalism sense) of this place by other photographers as well, and I feel this kind of documentary work has a very real place here on te John. Indeed these places and conditions should not exist. Good to have you back.
Best regards,
Mark

Bonjour John,
Je suis d’accord avec toi, de telles images ne devraient pas exister. Triste réalité !
Bien à toi,

Hello John
A sad reality. Many shots have been published already about this topic on TE. But we still have to show such pictures. Cambodia is not only the smile of kids and the orange robe of bonzes in front of Angkor's walls.

Life is real. I love to explore your gallery because of the truth in your pictures show about how life is going on. This shot might not as emotional as the "Mysery at Stung Meanchey" or "Playtime" but it projects the truth of life and how they'll survive. Especially it makes me realize that they're neighbor nearby my country.
Thank you for showing other side of life.
