Photographer's Note
The first photo I've posted taken with my shiny new D70S + 18-70mm kit lens. I've manually entered the shutter speed and f-stop as my current tools lose the EXIF data when converting from RAW to JPEG.
Shot at Yandangshan, Wenzou city, Zhejiang province, China. A high bridge over a beautiful stream is the site where numerous young locals take turns to jump into the cool water. A number of the more adventurous jump from twice the height of the bridge (I didn't dare do that -- although last year when I first visited Yandangshan I jumped from the bridge which was high enough!) and this is one of my attempts to capture the moment.
I took this with a Hoya PL filter (more because I was catching a few as they hit the water than anything else). I've adjusted the contrast and saturating in my RAW tool (ufraw for those interested) and cropped the image slightly (more at the sides than the top to help give the feeling of the distance).
Overall I'm happy with this shot. I'm still very new to photography but I'm beginning to get the hang of the technical details of the D70S.
I'm very interested to hear any and all criticism about this image. Right now I feel I'm lacking the eye to see what to shoot (or how to shoot better) and I can't see any better way to improve than by critical eyes. Thanks!

A very good action shot. You have captured the motion very well. with blurred background and sharp focus on the person, it is a perfect shot technically. Colors are beautiful too. And welcome to TE.

Pretty good job! I like how his head is fairly sharp, while the background helps describe the motion and is blurred. Very nice!

Very impressive! The man is very clear despite the fact that is moving fast. The green background is interesting. Nice caption, just in time!

Hie Lewis, your vertical downward panning nailed this jumper on a motion blurred background.Pretty evident on his upper body.Lacking the eye to see what & how to shoot it? Shoot what hits your heart and excite your emotion. The rest is getting to know and understand your camera. For that, just keep on shooting. Its a lot like walking. Every step gets you somewhere further.
