Photographer's Note
This photo was taken from the Star Ferry terminal in Central, just after I had crossed the harbour.
I took several shots from here, as the Chinese junk - Duk Ling - seemed to be in silhouette form as it was getting ready to sail.
Why the title? Because when I look at this photo, I like to imagine it with only the sky, sea, hills and the old 'junk' as it may have been 150 years ago.
On the left you can see the Star Ferry crossing the harbour. It used to travel in a straight line, but it now has to take a detour around the new reclaimed area.
Tech: Rotated left 1 degree. Brightness +6. Resized and sharpened. Added white border.

Very nice view... I like the clouds in the blue sky. Good depth of image. The silhouette of the boat on the right is very neat. Very good colours. Well done!

Bonjour mon ami Andrew,

Hi Andrew,
I like this harbourscape! The dark junk contrasts so nicely with the high lights of the city at the horizon. It's almost a painting. It reminds me of a harbour view of Rotterdam from the 1930's that hung on the wall of our living room when I was a kid.

Hi Andrew. Beautiful photo, again with the big sky hovering above the HK harbor setting. Beautiful composition with the old junk in the foreground, and an excellent sense of depth conveyed all the way back to the coastline with the highrises which is so beautifully accentuated by the streak of light. Very nice.

Hi Andrew
Perfect disposition and control of the details here. The prime focus on the fine boat in front of the distant cityline works well. Perfect placement of the horizon for a top perspective and depth. Very good.

I guess you're quite satisfied with you C-7000, Andrew, producing images with such clarity. As in your previous upload there's a sharpness all the way to eternity with details so amazingly visible. This 'overall' shot of the Hong Kong harbor gives a better understanding of how vast this area is, and - in contrast to your more 'close-up' shots - the backdrop of high-rise buildings would be lost if you didn't have the old junk as a superbly placed eye-catcher. The silhouette shape contrasts nicely with the sky and the streaks of light. The turn of the Star Ferry is a nice addition. Very well done!

Hi Andrew, nice daily life and transportation, you have included a lot of details and with this great sky it adds a wonderful atmosphere over the city.
it would be great if we could see many places or landscape from the past, I often try 5to imagine this, good thought, well seen.

The big sky and broad view across the harbor does give it a sort of imagined time travel feel. The distance to the other shore and the relative shortness of the buildings makes it much easier to imagine this junk set against the pre-urban harbor. The junk in silhouette is a nice touch. It has a nostalgic feel for the past. Nicely composed Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
The playing between the clouds and shadows make you picture lovely, the sky is fantastic because of clouds, also it beautiful panorama view of the port. The boat on the foreground is lovely added.
Best regards,
John.

Wow...nice. So neat and the almost silhouette-like boat is so strong as to grab the focus. Nice, very nice.
