Round eyes

When I looked at them through my camera viewfinder, other kids have raced away from shyness or fear of my lens pointed toward them, but this Hani minority girl, in her traditional costume. I don’t think the children at this Qinkou Hani Tribal Commune could realize what kind of equipment I was armed with: not a hammer, not a knife, not a mattock…
I don’t know if she considered me a man from other planet. But one thing I am sure is curiosity has drawn her closer to my camera, and the same curiosity has drawn me to her face.

Here, children learn to do the terraced fields work before spelling “school” or “pencil”.
They don’t know much about the Yuanyang Town only 6 km away from their houses, nor the world we live. In turn, we didn’t know much about them, their condition of living, their tradition, and their psychology. It takes some more time for the tourism industry to be established here… Welcome to a strange place on our Earth.
