Signagi or Sighnaghi (Georgian: სიღნაღი) is a town in the easternmost region of Kakheti in Georgia and the administrative center of Signagi Township. Although it is one of the smallest cities in Georgia, Signagi serves as a popular tourist destination due to its location in the heart of Georgia's wine regions, as well as its picturesque landscapes, pastel-colored houses, and narrow, cobbled streets. Situated on a steep hill, Signagi overlooks the vast Alazani Valley, with the Caucasus Mountains visible in the distance.
Signagi is located in the Kakheti region of Georgia, first settled in the Paleolithic period. Throughout its history, the local population knew Signagi or Sighnaghi as Kambechovani, and later as Kisikhi or Kisiki. The word Sighnaghi in Turkish means shelter or trench. Signagi as a settlement was first registered in the early 18th century. In 1762, King Heraclius II of Georgia sponsored the construction of the city and erected a fortress to defend the area from attacks by marauding Dagestani tribes.
According to the 1770 census, 100 families, mainly artisans and merchants, lived in Signagi. When Georgia was annexed by Imperial Russia in 1801, Signagi (Signakh) officially obtained city status. In 1812, Signakh joined the rebellion with the rest of Kakheti against Russian rule. During the Caucasus War, the city "was considered an important point due to its proximity to Dagestan.

Hello Luis,
A very nice landscape, which is well composed, showing the hilltop and the village clearly in front of the hazier view of the flat scenery in the background. Well composed shot.

Hello Luis,
I recognize the view in the WS, so you made a good choice of main photo showing a less known view. It's taken from a perfect angle giving us a magnificent view of a wide area, with a part of the town on the hill below us.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Luis
A picturesque rural landscape bathed in warm light, variety of rich colour & so much detail to take from top to bottom. The brightly lit houses on the hilltop fit the frame as strong eye pointers and the overall contrast looks great as well.
Best regards

Hello Luis,
Good choice of point of view to present us these buildings and the old towers on the hill with a good view of the fertile landscape behind it.
If I remember well, I've taken an almost similar photo as the one you show us in the WS.
Best regards, Paul
