Photographer's Note
The Jahangir Mahal is one of the best-preserved monuments in Orchha. A view from the main courtyard inside can be seen in this It is one of the 50 or so palaces and forts built by Orchha’s most famous king, Bir Singh Ju Deo during his reign in the 17th century. It is Orchha's single most admired palace & was built as a monumental welcome present for the Mughal Emperor Jehangir when he paid a state visit in 1606 to present the Bir Singh with a sword, for having vanquished an old Mughal enemy.
The rulers of Orchha deftly adapted and experimented with the hybrid architectural style that was prevalent then. To them it was a political necessity (closeness to the Mughal rulers of Delhi), besides being a choice of style and a route to experimentation.
Jehangir Mahal, is airy and lighted since it has countless windows and pierced stone screens looking out over the skyline to the west, some of which can be seen on the second floor corridor to the left of centre.
One can see several typical elements of the Rajput style - the chhatris (domed rooftop pavilion) and chhajjas(a Mughal style angled roof eave), domes, chambers, walkways, and terraces. The palace walls were originally painted in cream color, with decorative blue tile and paintings.
This is a cropped view, where I wanted to highlight the latticed stone screens lining the corridor of the highest floor of the palace, as the mother in a pink sari with her baby were walking past them.

Youve been to MP with some amazing results Angshu. I like the way you have presented the hidden architecture of that place. This composition too is solid and well detailed. I love the amazing simplicity with which you present these archietctural complexities.

The brightly coloured mother and chld really draw the eye and you have framed/cropped the image well by placing them near the corner, so from them we can roam over the rest of the scene. You have captured the wonderful ptterns of the lattice windows very well.

Hi Angshuman,
The presence of the mother with her child has an effect of scale. The two domes in the foreground leads our eyes towatd the lattice windows in the background. The details and colors of the picture are clear and sharp. The strong light brings out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Angshu,
An interesting scene with nice architecture, colors and lith. I think i would have gone for a vertical crop leaving the lef part out, it would have increased the lady's size....
Greetings

Hi Angshuman,
Though they are seen very small in the setting, this mother and her son give many life to this splendid architecture very well cut away on the sky in your setting.
I like the nice graphism of the composition, and the good management of the light.
Excellent work, my friend.
Best regards,
Josep
