Photographer's Note
There is no love, like a mother's love,
no stronger bond on earth...
like the precious bond that comes from God,
to a mother, when she gives birth.
A mother's love is forever strong,
never changing for all time...
and when her children need her most,
a mother's love will shine.
God bless these special mothers,
God bless them every one...
for all the tears and heartache,
and for the special work they've done.

I have been away from Trekearth the last few weeks, mostly due to my work commitments. But I found time in between to squeeze in a small vacation to some tiny Himalayan hamlets. This picture is from Bindu, a small picturesque village on the Indo-Bhutan border. Situated at an altitude of around 2000 feet, it rests on the lower foothills of the Himalayas and more importantly away from the mobile networks:) I was coming down a hill towards the village and could see women folks busy chatting away on a rainy afternoon. As I trained my camera on them from a distance, the young and proud mother having spotted the attention I was getting, held up her son for my benefit. The thickly forested hill behind them descended sharply into the river valley.

Great moment that you captured here, with the pure happiness on the mother's face as she proudly holds up the baby. The background works very well too, darker and with no distractions from the main subjects. Excellent!

Welcome back!
I miss your wonderful portrait like this one is. The backdrop is perfecdt to pop up the little guy and eve if the mom is taken from 3/4 you can imagine from her smile how big in her eyes her love is.

Hi Sabyasachi,
even if I love my mom I'm not sure about Lemming's poem about mother's love. I think it's more a myth than reality.
But I like you image a lot. I like the way the little boy looks to you. I like his curiosity. For me he looks more chinese than indian, but maybe I'm wrong.
Beautiful image,
Nino.

The poem you have quoted sums up well the expression on the mother's face. I like the inquisitive way the baby is looking directly at the lens. the colour of his clothing makes the baby really stand out from the green background.

While the baby's expression is great (I love his eyes) it's the mother's shining smile that I think makes the photo. It is such a genuine smile, and all her attention and focus is on her baby. A good moment that you shot here.
TFS, as always.

Olá Sabyasachi, how nice to see another post from you and this one is really amazing. Again, I can confirm how good you are with portraits. That expression of love on the mother's face is priceless and the pose of the child is funny, as if he were conscious of a camera for the first time and wanted to look nice. Excellent colors and very effective contrast with the background. Congratulations also for the note.

Dear Sabyasachi
Good to see you back...the inquisitive innocent look of the child as he looks at your camera lens is priceless. There's also the gleam of pride on his mother's face which is so well captured..and you know what, I like the belly protruding below the little one's T-shirt!
Looking forward for more gems from Bindu
Best wishes

Absolute good work S. where you have a fine interaction between the mother and the baby - even if the baby also seems much aware of the photog. Choice of aperture and shutter good for the blurred background.

Endearing photograph, Sabyasacchi. The composition and colors are very good, as is the exposure. Here is a young man who may see the 22nd century.
I once befriended a National Geographer photographer and we went on an short photographic expedition together, walking the streets of the capital city of Honduras, Tegucigalpa. We came up on a group of children, who were clammoring to be photographed. I stood next to the NGS photographer, vowing to snap photos only when he did. The waited and waited, the children went through various stages -- enthusiasm, frustration, anxiety... and finall resignation (that he was not going to snap their picture), he suddenly went click, click, click... catching the instant of their suprise. It takes patience, but a good applied psychologist has a good sense of how children (and adults) respond to a camera. Just a thought.
Warm regards,
Bulent
