Photographer's Note
The red sandstone columns of the corridor of Jama Masjid - this grand monument of old Delhi is the largest mosque in India.
Jama Masjid is not only architecturally beautiful, but also a place of great religious significance as it houses a hair from the beard of Prophet and also a chapter of Holy Quran written by him.
The mosque stands on a rock or a high platform and faces west. It has three imposing double-storeyed gateways on the north, south and east to reach the courtyard, with between 33 and 39 steps leading up from the street.
Viewers to my gallery might remember my earlier post of the Eastern Gateway. The long corridors surround the entire Masjid, along the gateways. Captured this scene of the corridor, using the full zoom.
ISO 400 was a mistake, which I realized later :-(. Cloned out the wires…quite an effort that was, running all over the frame.

The ISO 400 has introduced a bit of noise but nothing too worrisome. I wish I had £1 for every time I accidentally had the wrong settings and I would be rich. :D I love all these archways that you use so well in many of your architecture shots. The chatting couple on the wall add an excellent touch to the scene, for interest and more colour. Well done

Hello Angshuman! What a fantastic idea to include the two people to your photo. They seem young and full of energy and this makes this photo so special to me, the old architecture together with the human presence, enjoying the beauty of the mosque or maybe the quietness that comes from it. There are worse "mistakes" than ISO 400 ... I have done much much worse and I thought to myself "what have I learned, I should have noticed". Back to the books I thought, study again ;))))))) Oh well, thanks for sharing your little up and downs ... we all have ours ... Barbara.

Namaste :)
I like the contrast between the colours of their clothes and the red sandstone columns. I've got to post some more pictures of my recent trip to India, but if you like, you can see some of them on my flickr account. Thanks for sharing. I'll take a look at your gallery ;)

Hi Angshuman,
What a beauty here! Architectural details are very well rendered in this warm light as well as in the shady areas. Very well composed to mix in the sky in between spaces and catch those 2 fellows.

I like the symmetry here. The play of light and shades is wonderful. The brick colour pops the shot up and presence of life in this shot makes it lively.

I like the framing of the one, with he two different plans, the gallery in the foreground, and the tower in the background. The dark silhouettes of the second line of pillars provides alos an exwcelent impression of depth.

Olá Angshu, I'm guessing you have a big collection from this spot...I remember seeing other images, but not with these two people, which are well placed in the image and make a nice color contrast. It's also nice to see his face, while he's turning left and see him almost paralel to the perspectived facade in the BG :D It's a small detail, but I like it. Beautiful framing in a good presentation. Damn wires! I remember them disturbing my pictures in India...

Bonjour, cher Angshu,

Hi Angshuman,
Good setting and beautiful architecture, with the human presence that adds many life to the scene. The light on these columns, its game with the shades, and the contrast of the reddish tones with the blue sky that we see across the arches, they create an image with a lot of aesthetic strength and good graphism.
It is true that the ISO 400 has created a bit of noise in the dark zones, but it is not important at all. And I agree in that you are cloned out the always troublesome wires that harm a good capture.
Best regards,
Josep

Hello, Angshu.
J'aime beaucoup cette composition avec les détails d'architectures et le jeu subtil entre les ombres et la lumière. Bel équilibre du graphisme. La présence des personnages anime le cliché de belle façon. De la très belle photo.

Hi Angshu,
However, cloning out the wires was a useful effort; uit allo9ws one to appreciate the graceful curves of the red sandstone ahgainst the purity of the blue sky in a w2ay that would not be possible were the wires left in place. To those that believe that wires should remain because they're part of the scene..the designers of this monument did not include the wires in their vision!!
Great clarity of your colors and a great note as well

Hello Angshu,
The point of view gives an interesting angle on the scene!
I see two distinct levels, as what is happening in foreground is isolated from what we see in the back... besides the image has a great feeling of depth...
A well balanced composition with good details, and you were blessed with fine light!

Hello Mr. B,
I like very much this composition of the Jama Masjid (with the very tall minaret). The brilliant sunlight creates dramatic areas of stark contrast. The arches, off-set from each other are especially dramatic by this light. I imagine you could have shot this highly illuminated scene with an ISO as slow as 100, which would have given higher resolution, but it is a beautiful photograph nonetheless. I see you posted the image on July 10 (my son's birthday).
Warm regards, Angshuman,
Bulent

So many frames here : the black, the red, the straight, the curved... And the zoom creates a great scale, with the "huge" minaret as background. That's well seen !!

Hi Angshuman,
The rustic colours here conveyed the beauty and charm of this building and the choice of three posts against two in the shadow is another good choice. I am not sure if you pay attention to numbers but 2,3 and 5 is a lovely combination in terms of the aesthetic. The inclusion of the two individuals add to the atmosphere and mood at that particular moment. Great capture!!
All the best.
