This picture was taken in Jun 2005, at Kaza.
Kaza is the capital of the Spiti subdivision of the Lahaul and Spiti Dist. of Himachal Pradesh. It is in the tribal circuit of Himachal and is in the backward of beyond.
There are two approaches by road...one is via kinnaur along the old hindustan tibet road (NH 22). The other is from manali, via Gramphu over the Kunzum La pass.
At a height of approx 12,000 ft, its a cold desert.
Very desolate and supremely beautiful.
Pin Valley in Spiti is a national park and famous for the snow leopard.
